Trivium;s new record, “The Sin And The Sentence” is scheduled for release Friday. If you’re a SXM Octane listener, you already know “The Heart From Your Hate,” but I’m anxious to see the rock world’s reaction to the whole album.

From Moshville: “There’s elements of every single album they’ve released present in this one and if anything, it might well be their best album to date.” 

I hope that’s the reaction in sales. But  I’m a Trivium guy. Like a lot of metal bands with a following, some jumped off ship when Trivium went away from their early stuff a little. Still don’t think Trivium gets the love it deserves from the metal community. Maybe this album will reset that course.

This year has been brutal, taking away some of our most beloved rockers, Chris Cornell, Chester Bennington and now Tom Petty.

Petty is getting his run of memorial online and the benefit for Bennington is upcoming.

We’ll always have Chester’s music in our playlists, but this “One More Light” video has gotten so fitting following his death, from the close contact with fans to the lyrics I wish we had all paid more attention to before he took his life.

“Can I help you not to hurt anymore? … Who cares if one more light goes out? Well I do.”

Enjoy it one more time, for Chester.

The remaining members of Linkin Park will be joined by some of rock’s biggest names on Oct. 27 at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles for a tribute concert to former LP frontman Chester Bennington.

Members of Korn, System of a Down and Blink 182 are all on the bill. Tickets are available, but aren’t budget friendly – available at Ticketmaster.

I’ve been searching for a new turntable – the Jensen I bought has unfortunately been a dud. But the search has led me to several review sites that rank the best out there. Audio-Technica has been an overwhelming favorite among reviewers.

Loving everything Prophets of Rage has released and the wait for the self-titled album is almost over. The Cypress Hill, Rage Against The Machine, Public Enemy combo group’s record will hit shelves Friday amidst a tour that includes Louder Than Life and Ozzfest, plus overseas dates.

The first of several new songs Marilyn Manson debuted live this summer has formally arrived, along with news of his upcoming tenth studio album. Snarling new single “We Know Where You … Live” (all caps) premiered on Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 show today and is now available to stream. The release serves as notice of Manson’s forthcoming album Heaven Upside Down, which is out October 6, according to Lowe.

The Steve Miller Band is releasing a new “Ultimate Hits” collection Friday, the same day the band is in Memphis.

The POD boys from Southtown may be rock’s most consistent force. Sonny and the guys keep pumping out great tracks, the latest no different – “Soundboy Killa.”

It’s classic POD, with a tinge of reggae. It hints to me of 1999’s “Southtown.” More than 20 years of amazing and it is’t slowing down.

I know there are plenty of people out there struggling and we must do our part to help the city and state that made us who we are today. Saturday’s show, we teamed up with The House of Rock – $10 at the door, but can knock that down to half price by bringing a few canned goods to donate. If you don’t have canned goods or a donation, a portion of your cover will be donated to those in need at this trying time. We will leave everyone with this, we definitely know that this isn’t a time for shows and metal. We almost canceled all together but we didn’t want to give up that easy. We want to help the place we all call home in any way we can, and this is the best way we know how.
